How to use betting odds to improve your fpl rank

Fantasy Premier League season is upon us once again. We don’t claim to be experts at FPL. We’re quite the opposite. Therefore, we’ve teamed up with FPL addicts, and Esports live this season to offer some awesome prizes and hopefully improve our game and yours. However, we claim to be betting experts, matched betting to be exact. Since launching in April 2107, we’ve helped thousands of Australians and New Zealanders make a guaranteed profit by taking advantage of bookmaker promotions. Considering we’re huge fans of FPL and we have a tremendous knowledge of betting odds, we thought it might be worthwhile combining the two. So here’s our blog post on how to use betting odds to improve your FPL rank.

Start Using Betting odds

Bookmakers spend a lot of time and money researching sports to ensure their odds are accurate. We love taking advantage of bookmakers, especially their promotions, but it’s also handy to use their odds to assist with FPL decisions.  To get the closest probability available, we would be inclined to use Betfair. However, Betfair liquidity on some of the markets required can be non-existent. Therefore we will use a bookmaker instead. Considering Bet365 are the largest bookmaker, it’s no surprise that they have the broadest range of markets available. They also have the most accurate odds compared to Betfair for EPL markets. Here are a few markets that we find helpful to keep an eye on:

To Score:

The ‘To Score’ market is valuable for seeing the current odds for individual players to score at any time in the game. The odds and probability can be beneficial in determining who the best captain choice is or deciding what players to transfer. It doesn’t just relate to strikers. You can check the odds of midfielders and defenders too.

Clean sheet

This market is convenient as it provides odds on the likelihood of a team keeping a clean sheet. Not only is this useful for determining which goalkeepers and defenders to chose from, but it helps with midfielders, too, as they receive points for clean sheets as well. We’ve found this market to be incredibly useful if you’re playing the FPL draft format too. Check out the clean sheet odds for game week one below:

To assist

Much like the ‘To Score’ market this market provides the odds on players to provide an assist during the match. This is certainly an important factor as an assist merits 3 points in FPL.

match odds

This one is pretty self-explanatory but gives you an odds perspective of the difficulty of each fixture and what team is most likely to win.

Over/UNDER

The over/under market can be used to see what fixtures have the highest and lowest probability of goals.

Follow the experts

Using betting odds is not our only FPL tip this season. We recommend following the experts too. There is a lot of noise when it comes to FPL, so it’s essential to filter it out. Whether you’re following multiple accounts on Twitter or subscribing to numerous podcasts, you must be receiving the best information and not being distracted. As mentioned previously, we are partnering with FPL Addicts and Esports Live this season and will be following their content throughout the season to improve our own FPL rank. Not only that, we will be actively involved in their Discord Community and will hopefully make some guest appearances on their terrific podcast.

The FPL Addicts and ESports Live team have both a FREE mini-league and a PAID mini-league available for anyone to join. And the best thing is that the current prize pool is sitting at nearly $5000.
