INSTALLATION GUIDE

HorsePower installs directly rather than through the Chrome Web Store, and the whole process takes a couple of minutes. Watch the video, follow the steps below, or work through the full lesson: How to install HorsePower →

Before you start: HorsePower runs on desktop Chrome and compares odds against Betfair, so you will need a Betfair account. You can create one here if you are not set up yet.
  1. Create a HorsePower folder. Create a new folder on your Desktop, or somewhere else permanent, and name it HorsePower. Chrome loads the extension from this folder, so keep it somewhere it won’t be moved or deleted.
  2. Download the zipped file. Click the Download HorsePower button at the top of this page and the zip file will download to your computer automatically.
  3. Extract the file. Right click the downloaded file and select Extract All. A second, unzipped version will appear in the same location. Mac users: double click the file to unzip it.
  4. Add the files to your HorsePower folder. Open the unzipped folder and select all of its contents. There should be 9 items in total, including a ReadMe file. Copy them all into the HorsePower folder you created in Step 1.
  5. Load it into Chrome. Type chrome://extensions into your address bar and enable Developer mode in the top right corner. Click Load Unpacked and select your HorsePower folder.
  6. Pin it to your toolbar. Chrome tucks new extensions away by default. Click the jigsaw piece icon on the right of the address bar and pin HorsePower. The Bonusbank icon will then sit in your toolbar, ready to open HorsePower at any time.
  7. Log in and go. Open HorsePower from the toolbar icon and log in with your Bonusbank username or email address and your password. You are ready for the next race.

Updating to a new version

  1. Download the latest version using the button at the top of this page, and extract it.
  2. Replace the contents of your HorsePower folder. Delete the old files and copy the new ones in. Keeping the same folder means Chrome picks up the update automatically.
  3. Refresh the extension. Go to chrome://extensions and click the refresh arrow on the HorsePower card. The version number on the card should match the one at the top of this page.

Troubleshooting

Check the sections below first. If the problem isn’t covered here, or the steps don’t fix it, post in #hp-feedback on Discord or email [email protected].

Logging In

HorsePower accepts either your Bonusbank username or your email address. If one isn’t working, try the other.

Make sure you are logged in to the Bonusbank website on the same browser you are using for HorsePower.

Passwords containing special characters (such as $%^&) can sometimes cause issues. You can change your password to see if that helps.

This is usually caused by NordVPN. Even if the VPN is switched off, having it installed can interfere with HorsePower.

Go into your NordVPN settings and mark both Bonusbank and HorsePower as safe.

Opening Tabs

First, check that you have selected at least one bookie from the dropdown in the top left.

Auto and Semi-Auto bookies can be selected from the dropdown. Auto bookies open automatically when you click a race. Semi-Auto bookies need you to navigate to them manually the first time each day, after which they open automatically. Manual bookies must be navigated to for every race and can’t be selected from the dropdown.

If you have bookies selected and tabs are still not opening, two possible causes are:

You are looking at a harness, greyhound, or overseas race. Auto and Semi-Auto status applies to Australian thoroughbred racing only, and a bookie’s status may differ for other race types.

You are checking early in the day. URLs may not become available in HorsePower until 10am on race day. Before then, open the tab manually and HorsePower will pull in the data.

This usually happens when a racetrack has both thoroughbred and greyhound or harness racing on the same day, which can occasionally load the wrong URLs.

Navigate manually to the correct tab and HorsePower will update with the right data. If you spot it happening, tag @admin in Discord and we will fix it for the remaining races at that track.

Many bookies use the same white-label software, which means HorsePower can often read their data even if they are not listed in the dropdown.

Open the race in HorsePower and navigate to the bookie tab manually. If the page structure is compatible, the data will pull in.

The Data Table

Check that both the Betfair and bookie tabs are fully loaded. HorsePower won’t display data until both pages have finished loading.

If the tab is loaded but no data appears, check that the HorsePower icon is showing as “on” for that tab. If it isn’t, HorsePower is not recognising it as a race page. Try opening a new tab and navigating to the race manually. If that doesn’t help, report it in #hp-feedback.

HorsePower works best close to race start time. More than 20 minutes before a race, some bookies display a different page structure that HorsePower can’t read. Overseas racing can also cause this.

This is usually caused by additional bookie tabs being open. Close all other bookie tabs, especially any other racing tabs, and re-open the race in HorsePower.

If the race has minimal Betfair liquidity, especially in NSW where commission is 10%, the negative EV may be accurate. EV should improve as liquidity builds closer to race time.

Also check your Retention field. If it is set to zero, all horses will show negative EV. Set it to the rate at which you typically convert bonus bets. The default is 80%.

Close the bookie tabs and refresh HorsePower. The table will clear and load fresh data when you open the next race.

The Day Planner

First, check that the bookies you want promos for are enabled in the Bookies window. Promos for disabled bookies won’t be imported.

If bookies are enabled but promos still aren’t appearing, it may be too early in the day for them to have been added to the site. We add promos throughout the morning, with most listed well before the first race. Try importing again closer to race time.

HorsePower opens both the bookies in your plan and any bookies selected in the main dropdown. To stop extra tabs opening, uncheck all bookies in the dropdown.

Miscellaneous

This is usually nothing to worry about. Because HorsePower is installed in Developer Mode rather than through the Chrome Store, Chrome logs all events, including very minor ones that resolve themselves immediately.

The error message will remain on the extensions page until you delete it, but it does not indicate that anything is wrong with HorsePower.
